Travertine is a light-colored type of rock that is used especially in buildings. It comes from a stone quarry and is not mass produced!

As  a natural stone travertine is tough the same is true with most other stones, it is very durable which makes it great for flooring.
Granite and travertine floor tiles are luxury building items and the cost reflects that.
It is a porous rough textured stone and if not sealed or polished travertine in the kitchen may not be the best idea. The advantage is unpolished travertine is great traction. Polished travertine flooring can be slippery, polishing completely changes the surface, feel and the look. When polished there’s a richer look and the colors pop, also polished travertine’s glossy finish reflects light from the room. The three grades of travertine are: Premium which has a small amount of filler, standard more filler and commercial has lots of filler.
